Alokito Hridoy School, an initiative of Alokito Hridoy Foundation in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail organised a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fair on the school premise on September 26.
To promote critical thinking and problem-solving ability of the children at their early stage of life, the fair gave importance to technology, engineering and mathematics apart from regular topics of science fair, according to a statement of Alokito Hridoy Foundation.
Kawser Sabina, director of Primary Education, attended the programme as chief guest.
This STEM fair of Alokito Hridoy School was a successful representation of problem-based learning approach, where students can identify problems in their communities and incorporate subject-based learning with real-life to find innovative solutions, the statement said.
The children aged 7 to 10 years can identify the root cause of different issues like Dengue epidemic, insufficient space for tree plantation, child trafficking and road accident during the fair.
During the fair, the students from class III to Class V staged a display on how a windmill power plant generates electricity.
They also showed mobile application driven Arduino designed electronic car during the fair.
